I stumbled across your website while researching designs for my new tattoo. It looks like you're the right guy for it!
It looks like you are extremely familiar with the different historic viking art forms, and being Norwegian myself, I'm quite attached to it myself.
I'm sure you know the story of Baldr getting shot with the mistletoe by blind Hodr, the dramatic funeral with Thor whispering something in his ear, and Hermod's ride through Niflheim, over the Gjoll bridge, to Hel's hall to beg her to release him. Whereupon she said she would release Baldr, if all things wept for him.
My idea is to have that story (probably not all of it) told in a tattoo that would go all around my entire right forearm, between the wrist bone on top and the elbow on the bottom. Of course I would like to have the story told in authentic motifs, with elaborate knots from historic patterns intertwined between the characters. But I realize reference would be hard to find, though I've found some in some stave church portals. |
